Our hearts go out to all those affected by the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene. This ongoing disaster has already claimed the lives of over 100 people and continues to wreak havoc across western North Carolina and other regions. Many in our community have deep, personal ties to these beautiful areas and the people that live there. Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte is committed to playing a role in both the immediate relief and the long-term rebuilding efforts.
Our Federation remains in close contact with local volunteer and professional leaders in the impacted areas, offering our support and assessing the most pressing needs. Right now, authorities have emphasized that monetary donations are the most critical form of aid.
Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte has established an Emergency Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to those in need. Please donate now to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. 100% of your donations will aid Jewish organizations and their communities directly impacted by this catastrophic storm.
As we look ahead, we know the road to recovery will be long and difficult. There will be a significant need for hands-on volunteers in the coming weeks and months. As soon as it is safe, our Federation will coordinate with North Carolina Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster Relief (North Carolina VOAD) and national Jewish organizations to provide volunteer opportunities. We will provide more information once volunteer efforts begin.
